According to the post over at Xbitlabs.com, it looks like AMD's 2012 Komodo CPU and the Corona platform has gone the way of the Dodo bird and left its place to new Vishera CPUs and the Volan platform.
Of course, AMD never said or commented anything regarding this story, but we have heard similar things from our sources as well and an updated roadmap has been floating around the net. Currently, there is no, or little info regarding the Vishera chips or even the Volan platform, but according to the Xbitlabs.com post, the CPU might end up with up to eight Piledriver cores, dual-channel DDR3 memory controller and will be compatible with AM3+ and AMD's Scorpius platform, thus the reference to Volan as a Scorpius refresh doesn't come as a surprise.
It is unclear whether this is simply a business decision or Komodo has hit technical problems, but in any case it looks like 2012 will have less PCI-Express 3.0 than originally planned, at least when it comes to AMD's high-end platforms.
