According to PCGames, while AMD had a terrible Zen 5 series launch, it has ultimately triumphed with its new CPUs featuring 3D V-cache, outperforming the latest Intel chips. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D has been hailed as the best gaming CPU available.
Meanwhile, Chipzilla has faced significant setbacks, notably with its 13th and 14th-generation Raptor Lake CPUs, which have been prone to overheating due to a voltage shift issue. The recent Intel Arrow Lake, or Core 200, has also failed to impress gamers.
Amazon's top ten processor chart in the UK is similarly dominated by AMD, with Intel managing only a ninth-place spot. The Intel Core i5 12400F, previously a budget favourite, continues to offer great value, priced under £100 ($126.31) and is free from overheating issues.
Overwhelming demand has resulted in widespread sellouts of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Only third-party sellers on Amazon have stock, albeit at a significant price increase over its MSRP.
Newegg has heavily discounted Intel chips. The 14900K is priced lower than AMD's gaming champion, and the 12th generation 12900K is now available for $276.66.
Despite these discounts, AMD continues to dominate the top three spots on Newegg, with the Ryzen 7 7800X3D and 7600X in the top two positions, followed by the Socket AM4-based Ryzen 7 5700X3D.
