European retailers have started shipping Sapphire’s new HD 6950 cards with 1GB of memory.
The new board runs at stock clocks and the only apparent difference from reference cards is the frame buffer size.
However, the resulting price drop is not as significant as one might hope. The cheapest listing currently stands at €230, while reference cards with 2GB of memory can be bought for just €10 to €20 more.
Mind you, this is the first 1GB card to appear in stores and prices could still go down by a few euro once other vendors start shipping similar products.
