While Nintendo continues to hint that a deal is in place for Call of Duty: Black Ops II to be coming to Wii U, neither Activision nor developer Treyarch is confirming this. While Treyarch studio head Mark Lami has seemed interested when speaking about the possibility, he still has not commented beyond the possibility that they might be looking at it.
The announcement of the new Nintendo Pro Controller for the Wii, coupled with the interest that the display controller device could add to game play, might be enough to move the needle, so to speak. While Black Ops II will be released for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on November 13th, we have to think that if a Wii U version is coming it will be after the release on the other platforms. We would also believe that the Wii U version would be unique to that platform as far as some of the specialized features.
Developers of M rated titles have not had much success on the Wii and despite Nintendo’s push to draw hardcore gamers to the Wii U, many publishers and developers remain skeptical that they can deliver and they are taking a wait and see attitude. If Nintendo wants to attract hardcore gaming fans it will be hard to do it without having COD on the Wii U. Despite all of this, whispers we hear say it will arrive for the Wii U in late November.
