Acer is preparing to introduce its first AMD based netbook, the 10-inch Aspire One 522.

Sporting a classic Aspire One chassis in Futurama trademarked electric mucus green, the 522 is based on the C-50 processor, a 1GHz Ontario dual-core with a TDP of 9W. The C-50 features Radeon HD 6250 graphics with DirectX 11 and UVD3 support, something Intel's netbook parts can only dream of.

Aside from the new processor, the Aspire One 522 also comes with a new 1280x720 screen, which is a significant improvement over previous 1024x600 units. It also has HDMI out, just in case you need more.

Battery life is rated at six hours, which is somewhat less than similarly spec'd Intel-based Aspire Ones.
