As expected, this PCIe 5.0 SSD is based on Phison's PS5026-E26 controller, but thanks to cooperation between Phison and Sabrent, the limit has been pushed further, coming close to the theoretical 16GB/s limit of the PCIe 5.0 x4 interface. According to the Crystalmark benchmark provided by Phison, the Rocket 5 Gen 5 hits 14,169MB/s for sequential read and 12,756MB/s for sequential write, as well as impressive random 4K Q1T1 performance.
Sabrent was keen to note that a heatsink is a must when running a Gen 5 SSD, and while Rocket 5 runs cooler than earlier Gen 5 SSDs, Sabrent still recommends running it with the motherboard's built-in heatsink or Sabrent's own Gen 5 heatsink.
The Sabrent Rocket 5 Gen 5 will be launching in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB versions, with the first two coming very soon and the 4TB version launching a bit later.
