The update can be downloaded over the air and this 940MB file takes a long time to download. Meizu servers are swamped and cannot cope with that much traffic so you are going to have to be patent.
Aternatively download the update.zip file from meizufans.eu on your PC and copy it via cable to the phone and then run it. Once you copy the file onto your phone click the update.zip and wait. The install will finish within 15minutes if not less, depending on how much storage and applications you have.
The new update brings a brighter and more polished icons, screens and general experience. The FlyMe 5.0 is based on Android 5.1 and there is no word about when Marshmallow, Android 6.0 will make it to this phone. Some future FlyMe will arrive with the updated Android 6.0 but we doubt it will happen anytime soon.
The FlyMe 5.0 update enables better battery life compared to FlyMe 4.5 operating system. Even the beta FlyMe 5.0 that we tested earlier had significantly better battery life in stand by and standard use compared to a FlyMe 4.5 OS. The company went live with the Flyme 5.0.0.1A version as the first official FlyMe 5.0 ROM for Meizu MX5.
The FlyMe is heavily inspired by iOS 9 and the phone looks much like iPhone 6. The new flagship Meizu 5 Pro is yet to get the update and we expect that it might take longer for the Meizu Note M2 users. Still it is a refreshing update and if you have Meizu MX5 phone, we can definitely recommend it.
