MSI announces two GTX 950 graphics cards with 75W TDP

by on17 March 2016

Coming without a 6-pin PCI-Express power connector

MSI has rather silently introduced two new Geforce GTX 950 series graphics card that will lack the 6-pin PCIe connector and be limited to 75W, the MSI GTX950-2GD5-OCV2 and the MSI GTX950-2GD5-OCV3.

Both new MSI GTX 950 graphics cards share pretty much all the core specifications and feature a 28nm GM206 Maxwell GPU with 768 CUDA cores, 1076MHz GPU base and 1253MHz GPU Boost clocks as well as 2GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 6600MHz. Both are also based on MSI's Military Class 4 components and feature DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort outputs.

The only difference that we are able to spot is the cooler the GTX950-2GD5-OCV2 version comes with a single fan cooler while the GTX950-2GD5-OCV3 uses a more beefier dual-fan cooler. Both are based on MSI's new black and white theme so should go well with some of the recently introduced motherboards.

While these two graphics cards won't break any records in 3DMark, they should be enough for casual 1080p gaming and SFF PCs that lack a high-output PSU.

Unfortunately, MSI did not reveal any details regarding the price or the availability date but we expect them on retail/e-tail shelves soon with a price of just under €150/$150.
