Nvidia has released a new WHQL 331.65 driver that is bringing many new things to old gear. Shield owners will have to get this one in order to get the official support for Gamestream technology and the average gamer will like the fact that it can record and upload gaming videos via Geforce ShadowPlay video capture tool.

This is not all as the new driver boosts performance in many games by 19 percent for Geforce 400/500/600/700 series. Nvidia claims that the owners of GeForce GTX 690/770/780/TITAN cards can expect up to 12% in Battlefield 4, 19% in Sniper Elite V2, 13% in Dirt: Showdown, 9% in Metro: Last Light, 9% in Sleeping Dogs, 8% in Max Payne 3 and up to 6% in F1 2012.

The driver brings updated SLI profiles for Batman: Arkham Origins, Battlefield 4, Shadow Warrior (DX9 profile), War of the Vikings (added DirectX 11 profile), Dragon Sword, GRID and Euro Truck Simulator 2.

The driver adds 3D Vision support for Shadow Warrior – “Excellent”, Call of Duty: Ghosts – “Fair” and The Wolf Among Us – “Good”. We don’t know where these ratings are coming from, but Nvidia probably has a team checking out the compatibility and user experience.

The driver brings an official support for 4K/UHD displays as well as support for 4K Surround gaming, Geforce Expirience gets to 1.7 version, Installs new PhysX System Software 9.13.072, installs HD Audio v1.3.26.4, installs GeForce Experience v9.3.16.0, support for applications build with CUDA 5.5, Display port 1.2 support for GTX 600 GPUs and support for OpenGL 4.3 for Geforce 400 series and later.

It’s a big driver update but we cannot shake the feeling that Nvidia had this performance held back by the driver and released it just at the moment when its performance crown was threatened by the competition. The 201 MB download link is here, for those too lazy to Google it.
