Sapphire shows its HD 6850 Toxic
Clocked at 820MHz
Sapphire has finally pulled the veil off its HD 6850 Toxic Edition. Featuring a decent factory overclock, the new HD 6850 Toxic Edition will use a custom dual-slot cooler worthy of the Toxic label.
The card ended up overclocked to 820MHz for the GPU and 4400MHz for 1GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a 256-bit memory interface. The dual-slot cooler still uses a blower fan in order to push the hot air out of the case, but this time it hides three heatpipes under its shroud. Sapphire claims that, thanks to the custom in-house cooler, the card still has more than enough room for additional overclock.
The card still features 960 stream processors, needs two 6-pin PCI-Express power connectors and features two DVI, HDMI and two DisplayPort outputs.
The card should appear in retail pretty soon with a suggested price of around €200. We played with one and we will let you know what we think, very soon.
