Capps says that he will remain with Epic in an advisory role to provide context or advice where he can. Capps claims confidence in the team at Epic, and that he could only contemplate his retirement knowing that the right people are in the right places to continue to execute and continue the success the company has had.
The biggest question that remains, perhaps, is the role of minority purchaser Tencent (which is the Chinese company that now owns a minority interest in Epic Games). Sources tell us that the recent departures and the minority purchase by Tencent are unrelated. Still, it seems that there are more questions than answers surrounding the departures, and we suspect that it will be some time before we see how this all plays out over the long term.
