When deadly wildfires swept through large sections of California in recent weeks, Apple fanboys rushed to see if Bliss Hill had been affected. It would be the snap of the century if they could show the iconic hill as a smoking, smouldering ruin – just like an Apple IIc after it had to deal with a tough programming load, such as being switched on.
Such a picture would be priceless and open to amusing comments on Apple boards such as “Windows overheats again” and “The dangers of not buying a Mac”.
Tragically though, like Windows XP which is still running on more PCs than the MacOS despite being released in October 25, 2001, the fire missed Bliss Hill – despite devastating the surrounding area. In fact the flames got to within 1,500 feet of the hill before XP's magic firewall kicked in.
Having realised that the hill was ok, Apple fanboys claimed it had burned down anyway and started a viral sensation over the weekend. If you are so deluded that you believe that the iPhone 8 is a viable buy, you are never going to let facts get in the way of a good story.
