Russell Brand arrested for “defending Steve Jobs”
Taking his photo on an iPhone is heresy
Media badboy and celebratory ex-husband Russell Brand is a wanted man again, this time for the crime of defending Steve Jobs. While it is not commonly known that it is a legal defence against arrest in the land of the Free, it seems that Brand knew that defending the honour of a dead CEO is apparently part of the US constitution and entitles you to a get out of jail free card.
According to Metro apparently Brand was wondering through the streets of New Orleans when an Apple fanboy happened to see him and snap him with his iPhone. It is a moot point if the person doing the snapping was a paparazzo. Last we heard the paparazzi had better gear than an iPhone. Brand, who was earlier seen being accompanied by another person who was not his ex-wife, was a bit miffed that the iPhone was being used for such a low life thing as snapping his picture. He apparently grabbed the phone from the would be paparazzo and flung it threw a shop window.
Not surprisingly the owner of the Jobs' Mob shiny toy was a little miffed. After all he had to mortgage his house to buy it, so he somehow called the cops. Also not impressed were the owners of the shop window who happen to be law firm Deutsch, Kerrigan & Stiles. A spokesman told the press that it had filed a claim for damages with the local coppers. Brand's representative allegedly told a man in the offices of the law firm at the time of the incident that the star would pay for damages and replace the broken window.
Brand had thought about his actions long and hard by that point and had put out a tweet saying evoking the Jobs' defence.
“Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iPhone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory,” he tweated.
It is not clear if he has an iPhone, but given his tendency to behave like a tw*t in a public place we would expect him to be a role model for an Apple fanboy and Jobs' Mob should send him one for free. Him and Bashar al-Assad.
