Shuttle is well known for its revolutionary small form factor designs and it was one of the companies that made made a name for itself with SFF barebones.

It continues to offer various machines, from ultra small machines with Atom inside, to machines supporting the latest 1155 and AMD AM2/ AM3 sockets. In last few years they also started selling more complete systems and all-in-ones.

The latest small form factor case that is in plans will end up branded SX79R5 and it will support Sandy Bridge E, Core i7 3900 generation of processors. These CPUs are all 130W and it means that Shuttle will need a pretty good cooler to keep up with these extremely fast and hot processors.

This machine will replace SX58H7 Pro based on socket 1366, currently the fastest and smallest extreme edition barebone for previous generation Core i7 Extreme Edition parts. Shuttle will need at least 500W PSU for this system but it looks like it can still pack it in this rather small 32.6 x 20.8 x 18.9/19.6 cm (LWH) case. Still, it is quite impressive that Sandy Bridge E, Core i7 3900 series can be used in such a small case.

The SX79R5 barebone is in development and we are quite sure that Shuttle plans to showcase it on January 10 2012, at the CES 2012 trade show.  We expect to see it shipping in 2012, probably the first half of the year.
