4K has been a buzz word for almost two years now and it means two things. In desktop computing it means the 3840 x 2160p resolution despite the fact that in the video production world 4K means 4096 x 2160. The correct designation for 3840 x 2160 is UHD for ultra high definition.
Club 3D was always finding a way to come up with some innovative products such as multi stream transport hubs that can split the signal to a few monitors. Now they came up with a USB 3.0 to Display Port 4K graphics adapter. The point of this device is that a graphically limited desktop or notebook can pump out 4K signal via a USB 3.0 device. It basically allows users to get 3840 x 2160 on their 4K TV from obsolete hardware. There are some limitations, as it is limited to 30Hz and the device is using DisplayPort 1.2
You can use the device to mirror the content from your PC, you can use it to extend your desktop and you only need to install driver, reboot and you are ready to go. There is no word on the price of this device but we know that it can let you to extend up to six displays.
There are two more devices that are less attractive to high end users. There’s the USB 3.0 to DisplayPort 1600p Graphics Adapter and as the name implies it can extend your desktop or mirror it to 2560x1600 via Display Port 1.2. The third device uses USB 3.0 to transfer 2048x1152 resolution to a DVI display. This might be meant for machines that don't come with DVI and you badly need one, usually niche industry applications.
