Vevo fancies iOS users as they are large target audience with more money than sense, but its Android attracts the masses so a double release was important.
Erik Huggers, President and CEO, Vevo said:
“Artists and audiences deserve great music video experiences, whether on mobile devices or connected TVs. The launch of our new Android and Apple TV apps represent an important milestone for Vevo. We continue to invest in what we believe is the premium platform for music videos and related original content.”
Huggers and his VP of communications Jon Carvill built On Cue for Intel which is the platform which was sold to Verizon.
The Android flavour of the app shares its DNA with an iOS version and lets you chose a favorite artist to help the Vevo app create your unique Spotlight feed.
The application also creates an initial playlist titled “My First Playlist” so that audiences can immediately enjoy the music they love. The app's “Favorites” section houses the favorite artists and videos along with individual playlists. The Android app is launching with Vevo’s new discovery feature, “New for You” which is a playlist that appears every Monday in the Spotlight feed and provides recommended videos based on an audience member’s individual taste.
The Android application is now avaiable at the Google Play Store or as an update to an app that is already on your phone.
Apple TV is getting a new version of an app, again with an Instagram-like, user interface design. The Apple TV application gets the spotlight section to auto play your favorite content which can be fine-tuned to match your distinguished taste in Coldplay videos.
It should be easy to navigate trought the favorite artist and videos as well as create favorits and playists. One will be able to modify the Apple TV play lists on its desktop or mobile version of an app, which is really a nice touch. The Apple TV aplicaiton is avaiable available to download on the Apple TV App Store.
Vevo wants to make it easier to watch some of its 150.000 HD music videos, exclusive original programming and live concert performances to everyone on the planet who loves music both on-demand through Vevo.com or on mobile phones, tablets and now Apple TV too.
